Living Young and Wild and Free in Camotes Island, Cebu
This is a bit long overdue but I have made up my mind (cheers to that!) that I would be blogging all my adventures and misadventures (if there's any! o_O) in discovering the different islands of the Philippines.
Camotes Island, Philippines
The island group is located east of Cebu Island, southwest of Leyte Island, and north of Bohol Island. It is 34 nautical miles from Cebu City and part of the province of Cebu. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camotes_Islands)
After two years of not seeing each other, me and my co-working scholars (Ryan, Ate Sweettee and Daren) of the University of Cebu Lapulapu and Mandaue, had finally decided for a mini-reunion last August 26-27, 2012 to unwind and relax by the beaches of Camotes Island.

Thanks to Daren and his fiancee for being our tour guide while we were there.

So, for us to catch the ferry at 5:30 am (their 1st trip), we practically met at the Hi-Way around 4am. (Take note, I didn't sleep well that night because I was so excited!) Then we took a jeep to Danao City which took maybe 30 minutes and then a 3-hour ride of the Jomalia. (the ferry)
Daren's mom and dad waited for us at the Consuelo port, ate breakfast at their place then, started our weekend getaway. First, we enjoyed the unspoiled beauty and the glistening waters of the Mangodlong Rock Resort.
After exploring this cave, we decided to drop by this area. (I totally forgot the name. tssss)

Legend has it that Spaniards who arrived here came upon
some natives farming. When asked what the island’s name was, the natives
replied “camotes” (sweet potatoes), thinking they were being asked what they
were harvesting. This is just one of the charming things about the Camotes Islands. (http://itsmorefuninthephilippines.com/camotes-islands/)

Tourist lang ang peg! :p |
Then, we went to see the fine white sand and the relaxing shores of the Santiago White Beach.
For such a tiring day, we settled to play cards before going to sleep.
The next day, we went to Timubo Cave.
Such a long shore. |

Lynlyn’s 18th Birthday bash in Villa Asela Garden Resort
Her 18th birthday is on March 31.
We (me and my Kuya) had planned for this event months ago
and yet I never did expect that holding a simple party like this could be so
tiresome. (yeah, really! I am not kidding!)
We held Lyn’s birthday party at Villa Asela Resort which is
located in Bangbang, Cordova.

This place can easily be located. From Opon-Merkado, you can
ride a jeepney to Cordova (fare is P10.00) and tell the driver to drop you off
Gaisano Mall. From here, you’ll ride a trisekad (fare is P5.00) and viola, you
are already here. Their open cottages and function hall cost P300 where you can
opt to rent a videoke machine or just insert a coin for a single song (P5.00).
If you intend to come here during weekends or holidays, I suggest you better
have a reservation first. You can contact them through through these numbers,
(032) 511-1828, (032) 260-1998 and Sun 0932-8754-615.
The early birds catches the newly cooked foods. :) |
Anyways, we arrived late at noon and soon feasted on the
foods we prepared. Tatskey did the cooking for the Pancit, Lumpia and Buttered
Chicken, though he wasn’t able to come because of his job. (Thank you for the
effort Dad!) I made the salad (I’m good at this! :p). After Kuya Joey got the
Lechon (just a small one) and made sure that we are already settled, he then
leaves us, since his job didn’t allow him for a days’ off. So, It was just me,
Jeff, Lyn, my Aunt Gena (who sponsored the softdrinks and water), my three
cousins (Ate Lou, Banban and Zia), Inday (my aunt’s friend), and Archie (Lyns’
very cooperative and a helpful friend. He really is. He’s like a brother to me.)
Jeffrey's friends. |
Lyn, Me, Negs, Yam (who is 5 months pregnant) and Chel |
And the best part was their version of the 18throses and cotillion. I laughed so hard! :’)
Overall, it was such an unforgetable day for my sister, Jennylyn. (it was her day, remember?)
